Ian Wright has explained the brilliant reason he wants to give Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold flowers.
England right-back Alexander-Arnold has been one of the standout performers this season in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old is currently top of the assists charts in the top flight, and has been a key man for Jurgen Klopp as he looks to catch up with Manchester City in the title race.
But a fresh statistic has come to light that shows just incredible Alexander-Arnold has been this season in terms of creative output.
Arsenal hero has revealed the staggering extent to which Alexander-Arnold leads the way for number of progressive passes, which is a forward pass that advances a team significantly closer to the opponent’s goal, completed per 90 minutes.
“I wanted to give Trent some flowers because I read something the other day," he said on the Wrighty’s House Podcast.
"So, 50 Premier League players have four progressive passes per 90 minutes from open play.
"21 players have five, five players have six, two players have seven, no players have eight, nine or 10. Trent Alexander Arnold has 11.
"He is out there, he is gone. He’s Elon Musk, he’s Jeff Bezos, he’s gone to space, he’s gone somewhere else. He’s got to get flowers."

Wright's comments come after Roy Keane lauded Trent Alexander-Arnold after he put in another fine performance against Crystal Palace last weekend.
The 23-year-old has taken his game to another level this term - and he even made Premier League history last weekend by becoming the first defender to ever reach double figures for assists in three separate seasons.
The former Manchester United captain insisted that Alexander-Arnold has helped the full-back role become one of the most important in the modern game.
"Absolutely brilliant," Keane told Sky Sports. "What a player. Fantastic. The stats are absolutely brilliant, brilliant player, local lad bet he can’t believe his luck. [The] chances he creates, the assists- unbelievable.
"[He] looks like a good athlete, a decent lad, a brilliant player and we all get excited about attacking players but to get excited about a full-back it’s how the game’s changed over the last few years. The full-backs are so important.
"The assists and positions he gets himself in, he’s brave got a lot of courage - what a brilliant player."
