Ian Wright explains why Alexander Isak will be a 'very good signing' for Newcastle United

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has tipped Alexander Isak to be a 'very good signing' for Newcastle United.

Isak marked his debut with his first goal for the club in Newcastle's 2-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last Wednesday, after joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad in a club record deal reported to be worth £63million.

The Swedish international was a livewire in Newcastle's goalless draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

He had a gilt-edged chance to add to his Premier League tally when he intercepted a clearance from Joachim Andersen to charge through on goal. His dinked finish was foiled by an in-form Vicente Guaita but Wright believes Isak is a very good fit for Newcastle.

"I like Isak at Newcastle. Another 6ft 4in striker. When you see the way he took his first goal. It was unfortunate with his next chance [against Palace] when he tried to dink it," Wright said on The Kelly & Wright Show.

"I just think at Newcastle, the way he plays, he can play as the number nine. The counter-attacking form. He presses. He has great skill.

"He could be a really, really good signing. I think he's going to be a very good signing."
