Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes Newcastle United are in position to overtake Tottenham Hotspur for good following Antonio Conte's recent rant. The Italian head coach did not hold back in his post match press conference after his side threw away a two-goal lead in the 3-3 draw with basement side Southampton on Saturday.
The draw leaves Spurs just two points clear in fourth spot, but have played two matches more than the Magpies. Conte's post-match rant has seen calls for him to be sacked, with journalist Darren Lewis claiming Tottenham will have to look at a new approach to win silverware.
Daniel Levy has tried the tested route, after bringing Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte to the club, both serial winners during their managerial careers. However, Lewis has suggested an approach for someone like Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi may be more fruitful.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, journalist Lewis said: “The problem for Spurs, in PR terms, him (Conte) leaving. If you lose a guy that’s a serial winner, who goes to clubs and works with good players and then gets them to achieve their objectives. Where do you go after that?
“You are going to go back to project managing. You are going to go to a guy, let’s say, for argument’s sake, (Roberto) De Zerbi. You have to give him a long time. But in that time Arsenal are going to get stronger. Liverpool. Newcastle are probably going to take their place in the top four. So, you have to have a guy and give him the weaponry to win now.”
Wright added: “All of them are. Chelsea. All of them (are going to improve, get stronger and take Tottenham’s place).”
