Ian Garry has sent a huge warning to Shavkhat Rakhmonov ahead of their Welterweight bout at UFC 310 on December 7th.
Ian Garry Slams Shavkhat Rakhmonov Ahead Of UFC 310
The Irish welterweight star was drafted in to replace current champion, Belal Muhammad, however after an injury the 170 pound king was forced to pull out.
Garry was originally fighting against Joaquin Buckley a week later on December 14th at UFC on ESPN 63 but has opted to take his chance at what could be an immediate title shot should he win.
The Irishman has a professional record of 15-0, remaining undefeated in the UFC and his opponent also boasts a flawless record of 18-0.
This will not be the first time that Garry and Rakhmonov will be stepping into a fight, as the duo have sparred on multiple occasions in the past.
Obviously sparring is extremely different to the real thing, however, Garry has spoken about the previous training they have experienced together and believes he will take Shavkhat’s perfect record away.
He said (Via Ian Garry’s YouTube channel): “Honestly, I was pushing for the Shavkat fight. I was pushing for it. Undefeated versus undefeated. We’ve trained together.
We know how good we are. We both respect each other. He probably respects me a lot less than I respect him, which is okay, which is okay. That’s the way it should be at that point in our careers. But the truth is, I will take his 0 and I will take that belt.”
In Garry’s last bout several fans were disappointed with both his performance and the fight in general, as the Irishman sloppily won a split decision against Michael Venom Page.
As for Shavkhat, he put in a tremendous performance in his last fight by beating Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson via submission in the second round at UFC 296.
Ian Garry is the underdog going into the fight, with UK betting sites pricing Shavkhat Rakhmonov as the favourite.
