Ian Burchnall hailed Notts County's squad strength as they moved into the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy with victory over Halifax.
The Magpies sealed a 2-1 win at the Shay where Burchnall's side got off to an excellent start as Ruben Rodrigues fired in the opener.
But Halifax fought back after the break when Billy Waters struck after exchanging passes with Matty Warburton.
However, having made seven changes to the side that beat Barnet 6-1 last Tuesday, Burchnall's side secured the win when Kairo Mitchell tapped in from close range before Halifax's Jay Benn was sent off for a second bookable offence.
And head coach Burchnall said the victory proved the quality Notts have in reserve.
"Firstly I was happy the game was on because there was a little bit of doubt, but I thought Halifax dealt with it really well," he said.
"They gave us a lot of information through the day so we kind of felt we and the fans were travelling for a reason.
"To be honest the pitch wasn't too bad when we got here but it cut up by the end.
"We had a really good start to the game and for the first 20 to 30 minutes I thought we were excellent.
"It was a really good goal, but they then got on top of us a little bit for the last 10 to 15 minutes of the first half.
"Then I felt it was quite an even second half and they scored a brilliant goal. But we pushed and I felt we should have probably had a penalty.
"But we got there in the end. It's a really difficult place to come. We made seven changes from the last game and that showed a lot of strength for us."
