Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed what he thinks of his new role for Liverpool after being unleashed as an inverted full-back in recent weeks.
The right-back has been the Reds’ star performer since Jurgen Klopp altered his side’s set-up, with the 24-year-old moving central into midfield when his side are on the ball. The England international has recorded five assists from four outings in such a role.
However, before such a switch, Alexander-Arnold had ultimately struggled for form for the majority of the season with his performances, especially defensively, the subject of intense scrutiny.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Liverpool defender admitted he is enjoying playing more centrally. However, he dismissed the idea that he was playing further forward as he explained why Klopp made such a tactical switch.
“Of course (I’m enjoying it). I wouldn’t say just between,” he told Sky Sports when asked if he’d a specific conversation with his manager prior to the change. “No, it’s not just been like me and him and we’ve conjured up a plan.
“No, it’s a team system. It’s getting the best out of players. Yeah, I do (enjoy it). I do, definitely. I wouldn’t quite say it’s further up personally. It’s not like I’m getting into the box and scoring goals.
“Potentially (that’s later). It’s more just in the centre of the pitch. I enjoy getting on the ball. I enjoy passing and just being creative in those areas.”
