'I wouldn’t say' - Michael Owen makes Liverpool Inter Milan Champions League prediction

Liverpool return to action tonight when they take on Inter Milan in the Champions League at Anfield.

The Reds come into the game with a 2-0 advantage in their round of 16 tie after goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in the first-leg at the San Siro.

Liverpool maintained their Premier League title charge at the weekend with a hard-fought 1-0 win over West Ham United thanks to Sadio Mane’s first-half goal.

Inter have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions, however that victory did come in their previous outing on Friday night against Salernitana in Serie A.

And ahead of tonight’s game at Anfield, we have taken a look at how Michael Owen and two other media outlets see the match unfolding.

Michael Owen - BetVictor - Liverpool to win 2-1

The former Reds forward said: “I wouldn’t say that Liverpool played at their best in Milan, but they did what good sides do, and found a way to win.

“Inter had a few chances in that game, and they’ll cause a few problems at Anfield. I don’t think this will be emphatic, Inter are too good a side for that, but I think Liverpool will win this 2-1.”

CBS Sports - Liverpool to win 2-1

They write: “Liverpool will know perfectly how to handle Inter Milan's early pressure as the guests don't stand much of a chance to overturn the odds in the second leg.”

Matt Verri - Evening Standard - Liverpool to win 3-1

Verri writes: “It’s now 12 wins in a row for Liverpool across all competitions, and though they weren’t at their best in the first leg they still showed how good they can be when they click into gear.

“Going to Anfield in Europe is a tough enough assignment for any team, but it’s made even more difficult with Inter having a deficit to make up.

“The Italian side will have no choice but to really go for it at some point, though that will leave space for Liverpool to ruthlessly exploit.”
