Some motorcycles are fast, some are beautiful, and some have a story that makes them legendary. The Ducati 916 Senna Mk3 is all three. For me, the Ducati 916 isn’t just another superbike—it’s hands down the most beautiful motorcycle ever created. Designed by Massimo Tamburini, the 916 was nothing short of a revolution in motorcycle aesthetics.
When it debuted in 1994, the 916 instantly made every other sportbike look outdated. Its sharp, minimalist fairings, underseat exhaust, and sculpted tail section gave it an aggressive yet impossibly elegant stance. Even today, 30 years later, it still looks like a masterpiece.
But the 916 wasn’t just about looks—it backed up its style with serious performance.
Underneath the bodywork was a 916cc liquid-cooled L-twin, producing around 114 horsepower. That might not seem like much compared to modern superbikes, but in the '90s, it was a rocket. The trellis frame gave it a razor-sharp chassis, while Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes provided world-class handling and stopping power. And let's not forget the Marchesini wheels, which shaved unsprung weight for even better agility.
But what makes this version of the 916 even more special is the name it carries: Senna. The Senna editions of the 916 were born from a deep friendship between Ducati’s then-owner, Claudio Castiglioni, and Ayrton Senna, one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time. Senna wasn’t just a Ducati fan—he was a true enthusiast. He even owned a Ducati 851 and had a close relationship with the brand.

Before his tragic death in 1994, Senna personally endorsed a limited-edition 916 that would bear his name. Castiglioni made sure the project lived on, with proceeds from each sale going to the Instituto Ayrton Senna, a charity dedicated to helping underprivileged children in Brazil. Between 1995 and 1998, three versions of the 916 Senna were produced, with just 300 units of each model ever built.

This particular 1998 Ducati 916 Senna Mk3, number 135 of 300, is a rare survivor. With only 3,045 miles on the clock, it’s barely seen the road, yet it’s been meticulously preserved. It comes with its original book pack, service records, and spare key, and will undergo a full recommissioning service before sale.
Offered at The Bike Specialists in the UK for £27,999 (approximately $35,500 USD), this is more than just a motorcycle—it’s a piece of history. Whether you’re a collector, a Ducati purist, or simply someone who appreciates the finest motorcycles ever made, the 916 Senna Mk3 is an opportunity that doesn’t come around often. This is art on two wheels, folks. A machine that represents speed, passion, history, and legacy all in one.
