Ex-Manchester United star Gary Neville says he 'wishes' his former club had appointed Jurgen Klopp.
The Liverpool boss was approached over taking charge at Old Trafford when Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down in 2013. However, it went no further than just a conversation with the Scot as Klopp 's sole focus was on Borussia Dortmund and the job at hand with the Bundesliga club.
Instead, United turned to David Moyes, who lasted just under a year in the dugout. Including interim managers, the Manchester outfit have had eight different people in charge over the last nine years.

Klopp eventually moved to the Premier League in October 2015, instead to join Liverpool. Neville, though, can't help but wish the German joined United.
“I can’t go back in time but I wish they had appointed Jurgen Klopp," he told the UMM YouTube channel. "He’s been supported at Liverpool by a brilliant backroom team that have got the players in for him and every manager at United has struggled, but he’s an exceptional manager, of course you wish we would have appointed him."
This season, United are working under a new manager as Erik ten Hag took charge earlier this summer. They've had a difficult start to the campaign with two defeats in their opening two games, but will be hoping to put that right when Klopp's side come to Old Trafford on Monday night.
Liverpool themselves are in search of their first league win of the season after they drew their first two fixtures. A 2-2 draw at Fulham was followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace earlier this week.
