'I will step away' - Jake Paul causes social media stir with string of posts about Liverpool

Famous Liverpool fan Jake Paul has caused a stir on social media with his comments on Saturday.

The Reds claimed a 9-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield to get their first victory of the season in the Premier League. A brace apiece for Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz, combined with goals from Fabio Carvalho, Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and a Chris Mepham own goal secured the victory.

Paul, a famous social media personality and professional boxer, is often vocal with his views on Twitter about Liverpool. It was the case again for the Reds’ clash against Bournemouth.

Before kick-off, Paul posted a tweet speaking about his passion for the club. The boxer also had a message for the “doubters”.

“If Liverpool loses I will step away from [the] Premier League and cheer for The Reds quietly.

“But we are back at Anfield and there is no way my team is losing. F the doubters! We [are] picking some cherries today.”

During the game, Paul continued to post tweets after most of the goals. After Diaz opened the scoring, he wrote: “I like all people named Diaz!!!”

Then, after Elliott put Liverpool 2-0 up, Paul simply wrote: “Harvey.” The boxer, after the Reds went 4-0 through goals from Alexander-Arnold and Firmino, posted further messages.

“Liverpool fan for life,” Paul wrote. “I am not going anywhere. 4-0 and a whole lot of footy left.”

Paul’s final tweets during the game either side of half time. His first tweet read: “The Cherries are sweet.” His second said: “All this game needs to be perfect is a goal by Mo Salah.”
