Astute fans of the Boston Celtics may have noticed a particular Celtics big man feared for his defensive capabilities standing up early on in the festivities surrounding Kevin Garnett’s jersey retirement ceremony early this month — and we are not talking about the Big Ticket himself.
Current-day Boston big man Robert Williams III was about as excited to be a part of KG’s event as anyone was, vibing off his historic energy in the moment of its highest honor. Speaking to the media after shootaround on Friday, Timelord shared what he was feeling at that moment. ” I didn’t realize how special it was until I was actually sitting out there,” he explained. “I turned into a little kid — I really did!”
“When I saw him and Ray (Allen) hug, I was the first person standing up, it was something special to be a part of,” Williams added.
Timelord deserves his flowers — but we believe he’ll be coming for them whether opponents like it or not soon enough. https://t.co/YsUvjN3lOK

“I wanted to play with him when I saw his energy — that was the first thing. Imagine being in a locker room with that guy — before games, after games, halftime, you know?”
Now, if the front office can only find a way to kindle a similar fire in the Timelord — we do seem to recall another Celtics frontcourt legend suggesting Williams could use a mentor, now that we are thinking about it.
