When picking a name for your child, there are a lot of factors to consider - from how much you and your partner like it, to whether it has the potential to get them bullied in the future.
One mum thinks she's found the perfect name for her unborn daughter as it would honour her husband's late grandmother, who was a big part of his life.
However, she does have a few concerns about using the name as it is one that is more commonly associated with a fictional character and she thinks people may assume she's simply a "crazy fan" of the franchise.
Writing on the Reddit forum, Name Nerds, the expectant parent explained that the name in question is Hermione - which is typically linked with the Harry Potter character, Hermione Granger.
She said: "My husband’s grandmother is English, and was a big part of his life after his father passed.
"Her name is Hermione (obviously named way before the Harry Potter character).
"I love the name, I’m a mild HP enjoyer but not a crazy fan or anything. Would it be OK if I named our first daughter Hermione?"
Hundreds of people responded to the woman's post, with some torn over whether or not she should go ahead and use the moniker.
One person admitted they thought it would be "a lot" to put on a child.
They said: "I think it would be a lot for a child to live with. You may have the best intentions but it’s a super pervasive and strong association for thousands and thousands of people and you and she are not going to get to explain the meaning to everyone that sees it.
"It’s not like Harry or George where there are tons of other associations and they are often used names. [sic]
"I would not or use it as a middle name. I think it would really get quite old to have to hear 'like Harry Potter' for the rest of her life."
Someone else replied: "My daughter’s friend at school is Hermione. My initial reaction was 'must be a HP fan' but by now, she’s just Hermione! I think you should go for it. It’s a lovely name and lovely to honour your husband’s grandmother."
A different user thought: "I think with any name it grows on you once you actually meet a kid or an adult with that name. Like Mercedes, yes it’s a car brand but it was a name before the car brand. And I wouldn’t think twice if I met someone with that name especially if they hail from a religious background."
