‘I want to’ - Kostas Tsimikas makes Liverpool admission as transfer speculation continues

Kostas Tsimikas has dropped a hint about his Liverpool future after being linked with a potential summer exit.

The Greece international has made 61 appearances since joining the Reds from Olympiacos in the summer of 2020, with 35 coming in the Premier League after finding himself behind Andy Robertson in the Anfield pecking order.

Given his lack of starting game-time, the 27-year-old has been tipped to leave the club this summer, with supporters speculating the sight of the Greek crying after Liverpool’s final home game of the season against Aston Villa suggests he will depart. However, reports in his homeland suggest Tsimikas has no intention of moving on.

The left-back insisted last month that he has not thought about leaving the Reds. And now, in a video posted on the club’s Twitter account, in association with Kodansha, Tsimikas has hinted that his future is at Liverpool.

“The most important thing for me is to be a good person, to be happy and to live life,” he said. “As they say, 'You only live once,' and that means to have to live your life to the full and each moment as if it was your last.

“As a footballer I kept moving to places. My father and my mother along with my brother have definitely sacrificed a lot so I can be where I am now.

“Here, at Liverpool, I am living my dream. Honestly, when I was a child, my life's dream was to grow up and play at the top football level, in the top league, and with a top team. This dream became reality through hard work.

“I have always been humble and down to earth. I am 100% the same person. I believe this is really important and here at Liverpool I enjoy every moment. After all, I am a Scouser now.

“I am the only Greek in this team and of course I represent my country. I want to make Greeks even more proud and to win more trophies with the team.

“Every time I put on the Greek and Liverpool jersey, it gives me goosebumps. I try my absolute best to make them as proud as I can.”
