Yang Hyun-jun has demanded he be allowed to complete a dream transfer switch to Celtic in the summer.
The winger is thought to be keen on a move to Parkhead but his club Gangwon have refused to sell the player until the winter window.
The club are struggling in the K-League and intend to keep Yang to aid a fight against relegation.
However, Yang has now come out and demanded his club sanction a transfer switch to Celtic in the summer.
He told Sports Chosun: "Advancing to Europe is a dream of all players. I am the same.
"I want to go in the summer, not winter. I hope (the club) sends it as promised."
And new Gangwon manager Yoon Jeong-hwan admitted the situation surrounding Yang is "difficult" as he plotted a quiet resolution to the matter behind the scenes.
He told Yonhap News: "It's a club and agent problem, not something I'm involved in.
"I hope to work quietly so that it will not be revealed.
"We keep making the situation difficult by disclosing it to the media."
It comes after Yang's representatives slammed Gangwon for denying the winger a move to Celtic.
A scathing statement read: "Yang Hyun-Jun's dream is to play in Europe. It's a dream he's had since he started his career as a player.
"A golden opportunity has arrived under very good conditions for him and the club. So he is extremely frustrated the offer has been rejected.
"In the past, when an offer came from Minnesota United, the club's former CEO Lee Young-pyo promised him he would go to Europe when the next offer came in.
"It would be good for the player and Korean football for him to go to Europe. Yang believed those words and returned to his club and worked harder than ever.
"So he is hurt, the club have gone back on their word.
"The offer from Celtic is in the same bracket as what they paid for Oh Hyeon-gyu and is more than Gangwon's combined profits over the past ten years. And it also had a sell-on clause.
"Yang is extremely grateful to everyone at Gangwon. They are the club that made him and he understands their predicament.
"However, he wants to play in Europe."
