Taking to popular forum Mumsnet, a woman has admitted she's keen to make a lasting impression on her new guests in the neighbourhood. The new homeowners are a small family with children of similar age to her own kids, so she wants to introduce their ages in a unique way.
However, following advice from her husband, she's afraid that the gesture may come across as weird to the new neighbours.
The woman explained: "We live in a cul de sac of five houses. One of the houses sold recently, and the owners are moving in today.
"The old owners told me that the new owners have daughters aged 'about 10 and 12'. I have a daughter age 11.
"I was going to drop a 'welcome' card through their letterbox, and sign it from 'all at number five, Ibiza, Mr Ibiza, Master Ibiza (14) and Miss Ibiza (11)'.
"I thought I'd put the children's ages to indicates that we have similar age children, especially the girls. My husband thinks adding the ages would be weird.
"He would happily never engage with strangers unless it's business though!" The woman added.
Seeking advice, she questioned: "What are the hive mind thoughts?"
Flocking to the comment section to share their opinions, the woman's heartfelt note sparked a debate among Mumsnet users.
One person wrote: "I'm sure they will soon realise they are similar ages soon enough but putting the ages on the card seems fine."
"I think it's a lovely idea," a second agreed.
Meanwhile, someone else thought the gesture was rather peculiar.
They wrote: "I don't think it's necessary. The kids will see each other and talk anyway."
A different user penned: "I'd just say welcome to your new home. Be lovely to have a cuppa when you are settled in. From all at number 20. Bit weird to put the ages in yes."
