'I want more' - Memphis Depay opens up on Barcelona future amid Manchester United interest

Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has opened up on his future at the Spanish club after being heavily linked with a return to Manchester United.

United were interested in pursuing a deal for Depay late in the transfer window as uncertainty grew over Cristiano Ronaldo's future at the club.

Depay joined United from PSV Eindhoven in 2015 but left after 53 appearances and seven goals. And a return to Manchester could yet be on the cards, with the Barca man admitting that he is not happy with the amount of game time he is getting at Camp Nou.

Speaking to ESPN and Marca (via Metro ) while on international duty, Depay said: "I had two starts in the last two weeks in La Liga. It is not enough. I went off after 60 minutes but I want more. In the last 25 minutes of the match there are more spaces and there is always an opportunity to take advantage of that.

"I love competition and I do not run from it. I love being at Barcelona. Other clubs knocked at my door and I looked at my options. I decided to stay and fight for my chance at Barcelona."

Depay's Netherlands take on Poland on Thursday in the UEFA Nations League. Speaking ahead of the international outings, he said: "I can’t give too much details away. But look, the club has its own ideas and I have my own ideas and sometimes this clashes with each other. But at the end of the day, things went okay."
