I visited Nottingham city centre 'fancy' fine dining and cocktail bar that's perfect for a date

Even though Valentine's Day is over, that doesn't mean you can't spread the love. Our community reporter Keimae Blake has found the perfect place to take a loved one on a date, as she reports…

Fancy, classy and sophisticated. I think that's the best way to describe Six Richmond House.

As soon as I walked into this hidden gem up Hurts Yard off Angel Row, the dim light restaurant had such subtle and cosy vibes I thought it'd be perfect for a date night. With emerald green curtains, tables for two and a display of various wines, music played in the background as I was greeted by an attentive member of staff.

Taking in my surroundings, I was asked how I was before taking a seat. I don't know about you but I love finding a new restaurant.

As much as we all know I love a fry-up, sometimes you have to switch it up. There aren't many things I'll turn my nose up at.

With a coffee board up on the wall, I ordered a flat white for £3.25 and was asked if I'd also like water for my table. Sitting down and looking at the brunch menu, this definitely isn't the place you go to for a bacon cob but they have some very yummy options.

Six Richmond House is also a cocktail bar so if you don't fancy a flat white, you can come in the evening and have a Rhubarb Spritz, Mojito or whatever else you fancy. I struggled to know what to go for!

I nearly went for the Mushroom Brioche for £10 which is described as "creamy wild mushrooms and black truffle on miso and potato brioche". Now, I did have to Google what miso was - it's a rich broth served without the meat, I found.

The Smoked Salmon and Eggs for £12 also sounded delicious but I ended up going for the Confit Duck Hash for £12. After placing my order, it wasn't long before it was in front of me - I didn't think it would be too long as Richmond House wasn't busy this day just yet.

When it arrived, the presentation and the smell of my food was glorious. The last time I had duck was when I got some from M&S on offer!

Described on the menu as "confit duck and sweet potato hash, fried egg, crispy kale, spring onions and chilli jam", I had definitely made the right choice. The duck was flavoursome and tasted well-seasoned, my egg was runny and the crispy kale completed this deal.

The chilli jam wasn't too sweet and overpowering but it added a kick to this crafty dish. It's safe to say that this dish was 10/10. Richmond House has been added to my list of places to go again.

A general view of Six Richmond House (Nottingham Post)

In Nottingham, we're very lucky to have such a variety of restaurants all with carefully thought-out menus and customer service that makes you want to go back. I highly recommend Six Richmond House.
