I visited Birds Bakery branch for the first time and can understand why people love it

Whether you popped in to get a sandwich for lunch or to enjoy a sweet treat, there's no doubt that Birds Bakery offers you a wide range of products. The chain operates a number of branches across Nottinghamshire, including one in Radcliffe on Trent which is adored by shoppers.

I decided to take a trip to see what all the fuss was about and the first thing I noticed was just how much variety the baked goods shop offers. It has everything from savoury pork pies, to sweet cakes and tarts. A big choice for customers to choose from.

When I went in I could choose from custard tarts, bakewell tarts, donuts and scones. I asked the lady at the counter which she recommended - she said: “all of them.” I have to highlight how lovely and friendly the staff at Birds were also, they were very welcoming.

I then asked which is the most popular, the lady told me that the cream donut was the most popular amongst customers. So I treated myself to the most popular cake along with a coffee.

There’s no surprise to me that the cream donut is the most popular as it's one of my favourites, one of my go to choices for a cake.

The cream donut was perfect. It was sweet and sugary on the outside, with fresh cold cream and jam in the middle. It tasted great, along with a cappuccino to balance out the sweetness.

Overall, the customer service and being spoiled for choice with so many cakes and pastries I understand why people love it so much.
