Manchester United fans are calling for the club to do everything they can to sign Darwin Nunez this summer after his performance against Liverpool.
While Jurgen Klopp’s side secured their passage to the semi-finals, it was Nunez’s performance that drew some admiring glances from United fans during the 3-3 draw at Anfield. The Uruguay international scored the final goal of the tie with a well-taken strike.
Nunez even came close to bagging himself a hat-trick, with the 22-year-old having two other strikes ruled out for offside. His first disallowed effort in particular would have had United fans purring, with the forward delicately chipping over Alisson — only to be denied by the offside flag.

United fans though had seen more than enough of the striker to be convinced of his talent. The striker has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, with the club likely to make a new frontman one of their priorities.
Nunez himself has confirmed he is switching agents, having been tipped for a move away from Benfica. United fans are now desperate to see their club pull out all the stops and bring him to Old Trafford.
Benfica surely won’t give Nunez up without demanding a big fee this summer. The Lisbon club’s boss Nelson Verissimo is hopeful they can get close to what Atletico Madrid paid for Joao Felix back in 2019.
“He is a young player, with a lot of potential, it is natural that given what has been his growth throughout this season and also a lot as a result of the performance he has had in the Champions League games, it is natural that he arouses the interest of the big European clubs,” Verissimo said.
“It will be at the end of this season or the following season, depending on what it has shown, it is natural that it will arouse interest from other clubs and naturally there may be the timing in which it goes. Now regarding numbers, I hope as a Benfica fan that it will go for numbers close to those that were João Félix's numbers. Now it's not for me to enter numbers on that field.”
