I used B&M's scanner app to find a bargain and was surprised at the results

B&M fans have been praising a little-known scanner hack that can be used to unlock some serious savings.

Shopper Danielle Harper used a scanner on the B&M app to get a £70 shop for just £3. The savvy mum purchased three rugs, which were reduced to just £1 each. After sharing details of her find online, many shoppers were intrigued by the trick, which mainly picks up clearance products that staff are yet to mark down in store.

With this in mind, I decided to head to the Clayton Square B&M store to test it out for myself. I downloaded the B&M app from the app store and found the scanner easily. Once you've loaded up the app, you can easily see the scanner section along the bottom of the screen.

Using it was easy - I simply opened the scanner and pointed it at a barcode. Once you've scanned a product, the app informs you of its price, as well as loading up a description of the item. I headed to the homeware aisle to trial the scanner out, and was surprised to find a few items that were actually cheaper than the price listed on the shelf. For example, I scanned a Beldray Sonic Spray Mop which was reduced from £18 to £16.

I also found an ornament that was reduced from £3 to £1. Although the savings I found weren't as big as I hoped, I was still pleasantly surprised to find that some of the products were cheaper than I expected.

The scanner was especially helpful when coming across a product with no price tag on it, as having a way to find the price out quickly was really helpful. Overall, I think the scanner is a useful tool and is a good addition to the B&M app. It's really simple to use and doesn't take long to scan an item to check the price, so I will definitely be using it again.
