With St Patricks Day just two days away, a lot of people may be planning a last-minute getaway and where better to go than the capital city for Ireland’s national holiday?
Well for many, getting to stay in Dublin to see the parade head down O’Connell Street before heading to Temple Bar for some Guinness might not be feasible, due to the "exorbitant" hotel prices in the city.
On Tuesday, Clare Senator Timmy Dooley blasted hotels in Dublin for their St Patrick's Day weekend prices, adding that they are creating a "very negative image" of Ireland and its tourism industry.

To see first-hand just how bad the situation was, the Irish Mirror checked hotels on all of the top booking sites used in Ireland, comparing them and putting together a list of the cheapest to the most expensive hotels in Dublin.
Given that any further would cost a bomb in a taxi and offset a cheap hotel bed, the hotels we looked at were within a 30-minute walking distance of the city centre. Furthermore, hostels were taken off the list and all of the prices below are for a one-person room.
Below are the three least expensive and three most expensive hotels in Dublin city centre for St Patrick’s Day:
Least expensive
McGettigan's Townhouse - €280
The cheapest hotel in the capital right now at just under €300, this eleven-bedroom townhouse right in the heart of Dublin City also has an Irish traditional pub dating back to 1776 attached to it.
Bonnington Dublin - €306
From here on in the prices rise, in total there are 10 hotels within the €300 - €400 price range. The Bonnington in Dublin is the cheapest of these, coming in at just over €300 this classic four-star hotel is just 3.9 km from the city centre.
Harrington Hall - €319
Still decently priced, this “Georgian lodging with an elegant lounge, simple rooms and a complimentary full Irish breakfast” is an ideal place to stay during a last-minute getaway in Dublin city.
Most expensive
The Morrison - €815
Although fairly outrageous for one night for one person, coming in at €815 this hotel was the cheapest of the upper-end rooms. With “river views in a hip hotel” if you want to splash out on yourself a little bit, head over to The Morrison.
Zanzibar Locke - €1,021
Rooms start getting a bit more expensive around here. The room in the Zanzibar includes a double bed, so you could bring another person to shoot the price down by €500 or so, but if you can’t find anyone willing to split the bill to stay in this amazing private apartment-style hotel room.
Sonder The Earl - €2,570
The most expensive hotel in Dublin city centre on St Patrick’s Day, Sonder The Earl comes in at an insanely high price on Booking.com, as well as other booking sites. As with Zanzibar Locke, the room available includes a double bed, so you could get the price down to a modest €1,280 or so. However, this is still more than the second most expensive. Despite the price, it is a beautiful hotel and by booking two days rather than one, the price drops down to €878 total.
