'I tried the wellness services at the new Dublin Holland & Barrett store - here's what I found out'

A brand new Holland & Barrett flagship store has opened on Henry Street and has introduced Irish customers to some of its wellness services that have proven popular in the UK.

As well as shopping for vitamins, supplements and healthy foods, customers visiting the new Henry Street store can make use of the consultation rooms where there will be a selection of diagnostic tests as well as biometric testing and BMI analysis.

I headed along to the store to try these services, and I was not expecting to get such detailed information about myself.

Firstly, my Vitamin D sufficiency was tested by a friendly member of staff via a small finger prick and a test that looks an awful lot like a Covid-19 antigen test.

After finding out my Vitamin D levels were sufficient after a generous amount of summer sunshine, it was time for a biometric test.

Stepping up on the device, the staff member there will guide you through the process, telling you where to put your hands and how to stand for each of the tests. After just a few minutes, you will receive a print out detailing your BMI, water retention levels, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels.

For a test that is free and only takes a matter of minutes, I was quite surprised as to the amount of information I could get about myself. Alex, the super friendly staff member who carried out my tests, could go through my printed results and explain what everything meant.

Wellness consultations will be available at the Holland & Barrett flagship store on Henry Street seven days a week and walk-ins are available.

Sports and fitness enthusiasts will be able to get nutrition advice from knowledgeable staff as well as access to Les Mills subscriptions which will be on offer in the new store.

Overall, the new flagship store on Henry Street puts meaning into the buzzword 'wellness', providing customers with actual data about their bodies.
