It seems you can cook almost anything in the air fryer these days and with apps like TikTok and Instagram, new and exciting recipes are never more than a swipe away. We spotted a hack recently for a Sunday dinner staple and decided to give it a try.
Yorkshire puddings are a must on any roast, and while most people tend to reach for a bag of frozen puds for convenience, it's actually really simple and cheap to whip up your own.
I have seen endless videos of people making yorkies on TikTok using their air fryer and I had to test it out to see if they were nicer than buying them from the shop.
It also gave me an excuse to use one of the many Gu dessert pots I've been hoarding in my cupboards, which was an added bonus.

The ingredients you need to make the Yorkshire pudding batter, is very similar to how you would make pancakes.
All you need is plain flour, eggs, milk, oil and a pinch of salt and pepper - pretty much kitchen staples.
Because I’m not much of a chef, and had never tried making my own puddings before, it took me a couple attempts to nail it down.
The first time I tried it, it came out almost like scrambled egg and the second time they were just soggy. But I’ve nailed down the recipe so you don’t have to struggle like I did.
- 115 g Plain Flour
- 1 Large Egg
- 210 ml Milk
- Pinch of Salt and Pepper
Pour your flour into a bowl, crack an egg into the centre and then slowly mix with a fork while slowly adding in the milk. Give it a good mix until you have your batter.
The key here is to let the batter sit for 20 minutes before cooking it. This helps ensure your puds rise better.
You also need to feel your glass ramekin with some oil and let it get piping hot so that when you add the batter, you hear a sizzle. Other recipes suggest using Beef Dripping to enhance the flavour of the Yorkshire pudding.
Gu pots are oven safe - which is why I opted to use them in the air fryer.
Once you pour the batter to fill the ramekin, let them cook for 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees..
I was really happy with the end result - they look a bit different to a store bought Yorkshire pudding, but this may be because I used a glass ramekin instead of tins, which is typically used to cook them.
However, they tasted exactly the same and with a bit of gravy added on top, they were absolutely delicious.
