I tried the Toby Carvery ‘magic bag’ and had enough food to feed four people

Toby Carvery is offering ‘magic bags’ for those who fancy a roast dinner takeaway - and they’ll cost less than £4.

Currently available at 153 restaurants across the country, you can purchase the bags from the Too Good To Go app.

The bags are packed together at the end of the day with plenty of goodies from Yorkshire puddings, to roast potatoes and sliced meats.

Available for as little as £2.29 for the vegetarian option and £3.29 to include meat, there are a limited number available each day.

I decided to try out a bag from my local Toby Carvery to see if it was really worth it.

The magic bag

After hearing a lot about the magic bags via TikTok, I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of size.

Of course, it’s really all down to how much is leftover at the end of the day, so I could end up with anything!

When I picked up the bag from my local Toby Carvery, I was absolutely overwhelmed with the sheer size and weight.

The bag was pretty heavy, meaning it contained a decent amount of food, not to mention the fact it smelt absolutely amazing.

It was a really quick and easy process picking up the bag, and the food was piping hot which is always a bonus.

So, what exactly was in the bag? Well, it was an absolute feast let me tell you.

My bag contained a whopping eight roast potatoes, one giant yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, mash potato, carrots, peas, stuffing, gravy and a few slices of ham.

I didn’t expect the bag to contain the contents of a giant roast dinner, so I was seriously impressed with Toby Carvery.

Lets just say, I couldn't manage to eat the whole thing, and ended up sharing it with my boyfriend and having leftovers.

Not bad for £3.29, considering you’d definitely pay at least double that if you were to visit a restaurant for a roast.

The verdict

I’d highly recommend downloading the Too Good To Go app and giving one of these magic bags a try.

Granted, I’m sure it’s not always going to be an absolute feast, but for the price and convenience, it’s a win win.

The food was piping hot and tasted great, which is why I’ll be giving the bag a 5/5.

I’ll definitely be making a habit of using this service, because it’s fantastic for minimising food waste and is such a bargain too.
