I tried the TikTok-approved Refy beauty lip sculpt that doesn’t smudge AT ALL

Social media is where I often find beauty hacks, fashion finds and affordable dupes of high end brands - but sometimes a product comes along and it’s too good to replicate. Such is the case with the TikTok-approved, influencer launched Refy Beauty lip sculpt.

Refy Beauty launched in 2020 after influencer Jess Hunt wanted to create a curated makeup collection that would enhance natural beauty.

From that, a number of must-have ‘never seen before’ beauty buys have gone viral online, with the # refybeauty hashtag racking up 48.7 million views on the video sharing app.

About the range, Jess said: “I wanted to create a beauty brand in line with my values of quality and authenticity that would break boundaries and develop never seen before products. REFY encourages everyone to be confident enough to celebrate themselves and embrace their natural beauty.”

One of the most popular products from the beauty brand is their Lip Sculpt , due to its completely smudge-proof claims. In fact, I’ve seen dozens of videos of TikTok creators applying the product, and then trying to wipe it off - but it doesn’t budge.

The vegan and cruelty free liner and setter combo comes in six shades, and is available on its own for £18, or together with a lip gloss for £28, saving shoppers £4.

There are three pink shades and three brown-toned liners, and I opted for the mid-brown Fawn.

The product is made of two parts - first, an extremely creamy, blendable liner, followed by a ‘world-first’ setter, which is said to be a ‘one-on-a-kind formula’ that keeps your lip liner in place for a whopping 10 hours. Naturally, I put it to the test for a day eating and drinking in Manchester, and was pretty impressed with the results.

I put on the majority of my makeup as usual, ditching my usual Mac Velvet Teddy in favour of the Refy Fawn liner. It’s a little bit darker than the lip shade I’d typically wear, but I do love the richer colour.

I applied the liner to the edges of my lips as neatly as I could, before pressing them together to blend. I found the formula to be - as customer reviews suggest - really creamy, light and has a great colour payoff.

I then screwed the lid from the setter, which is supposed to keep the liner in place all day. I applied a small amount where it was needed, and allowed it to dry for 30 seconds. At this point, I was already shook, as my lips looked like they had their own Instagram filter. The product had created a smooth, matte finish across my lips, making them appear almost airbrushed.

I tested out its smudge-proof claims by swiping the back of my hand across my lips, and there wasn’t even a whisper of product left behind. It already felt like a complete gamechanger, but would it stand the food and drink tests of Manchester’s popular eateries?

I wore the liner while spotting shoppers for Steal Their Style, before dining at Federal in the Northern Quarter for lunch. Not only did it survive more than 12,000 steps around the city, but Turkish Eggs and a chai latte, too. I had no doubt that the product would last, so much so I didn’t even bother to take it in my handbag with me - but it was nice to confirm that no reapplication was needed.

While the liner was stunning, it’s the setter that is the star of the show, reducing reapplications and maintaining your lip colour for longer, meaning you won’t be rushing out to buy lip liners every couple of months, either. You may, however, find yourself wanting to purchase more of the Refy colours - I have my eye on Rosewood, next.

I really enjoyed the matte finish for a change from my usual satin lip colours, and found it comfortable to wear. Some mattes can leave my lips feeling flaky and dry, but this still felt smooth - in fact, in terms of texture it wasn’t too dissimilar to the anti-chafing product I reviewed in summer.

For those that do prefer a gloss look, the Refy lip gloss is a high-shine, clear product that pairs well with any of the lip sculpts to offer a long-lasting look with a glass-like finish.

Other shoppers have also adored the viral product, with Andrea L saying she ‘can’t believe it does what it says’.

She said: “Oh wow! I wanted to try this because every time I apply my lip liner and lipstick it is off within 30 mins after eating or drinking! I had seen this on TikTok and thought I would give it a go not expecting much to be honest and omg I really can’t believe it does what it says!

“My lips still had liner on the very next day, I slept in it just to see if it was possible. I’m in love with this product I’m going to buy one in every colour! It’s the best thing since sliced bread.”

Erinda T added: “Absolutely loved it, I’m such a fan of lip liners in general. Usually top up a few times a day. Using the refy lip collection, not only does it last all day. You don’t waste as much product having to re apply which means it’ll last longer. Such a must have in your bag girls!!”
