I decided to try the M&S Free Range Egg & Watercress Sandwich (Vegetarian), a hot cross bun latte, the ‘best ever’ pork sausage roll and the new Costa treacle tart (which isn’t part of the range.)
The sandwich
As far as sandwiches go, the egg and watercress was pretty good.
You could definitely tell it was a sandwich with high quality ingredients, that didn’t have that ‘package sandwich’ vibe.
To be honest, I wasn’t completely blown away with this sandwich, but perhaps it’s because I went for something plain like egg & mayo.
The sandwich featured a thick egg and mayo filling with fresh watercress, and the seeded bread gave it a nice crunch.
You can definitely tell the sandwich is a good quality sandwich, but it definitely didn’t blow me away.

The sausage roll
I thought I’d try the ‘best ever’ sausage roll from the M&S Costa collab, and it’s safe to say, it was pretty damn good.
This wasn’t your bog standard sausage roll from a supermarket, this was premium quality, with buttery pastry and a perfectly seasoned sausage.
It was absolutely massive in size which did mean it was dry in some parts, but all in all, I was very impressed with the sausage roll.
It’d be a great snack to have with your coffee if you were in a rush, considering it’s so huge.

The coffee
Hot cross bun flavoured? No way. This coffee had an overpowering taste of raisins and nothing else.
Now, I know raisins are a feature of a hot cross bun, but I just wasn’t expecting it to be this overpowering.
I had really high hopes for the hot cross bun flavoured coffee considering I love them, but I was gutted about the coffee.
The first sip was a bit of a shocker, to the point where it made me squirm, but I will admit it got slightly better after a few sips.
Perhaps I’m being picky, but I’d have preferred more of a cinnamon spice taste if I’m being totally honest.

The verdict
As a whole, I’d say I was moderately impressed with the food, but not so impressed with the coffee.
The sandwich was a nice filling sandwich with good ingredients, with a delicious sausage roll to match.
But the coffee really let me down on this one, which is why I’ll be giving the Costa X M&S range a 3/5.
Run don’t walk to Costa for their M&S sausage rolls, but perhaps not the hot cross bun coffee in my opinion!
