The iconic McDonald's festive menu has returned, with many fans of the fast food giant flocking to get their cheese melt dippers fix.
I was incredibly excited to try the new festive menu considering I absolutely loved it last year - because let's be honest, there's nothing better than a Maccies after a long day. After seeing the launch of the new McDonald's festive menu, I was pleased to see some returning favourites such as the cheese melt dippers and the festive pie.
I couldn't help but notice that there wasn't any sort of festive burger on the new menu, which for me, was a big let down. I absolutely adored the Festive Crispy Chicken burger last year, and was sad to see that it wasn't on the menu this time round.

If you weren't lucky enough to try out the festive chicken burger last year, let me enlighten you. The delightful burger was basically crispy chicken fillet, cranberry sauce, a stuffing-inspired sage and onion mayo, bacon, red onion, lettuce and cheddar cheese all in a poppy and sesame seed bun.
Heaven? Most definitely. Which is why I was gutted when the Big Tasty returned to the menu instead of this Christmassy delight - although I'm not sure if that's an unpopular opinion.
On a more positive note, I'd never actually tried the Festive Pie before, so I was really looking forward to giving that a go. With that being said, here's my verdict on the new McDonald's festive menu (minus the Big Tasty because I'm just not a fan).
The Cheese Melt Dippers
I'll be honest, I'd had the cheese melt dippers before, in fact, several times before trying them again for the purpose of this review. I knew they were going to taste absolutely delicious, but it's always best to double check, right?
The cheese melt dippers were really crispy on the outside with a lovely gooey soft cheese in the middle, which sadly, you don't always get with McDonald's cheese products. I'd definitely buy these on a regular basis if they were on the menu full time, but they're not, and that's what makes them so special.

The Festive Pie
Believe it or not I'm not actually a big fan of mince pies in general, so I was a little dubious when it came to McDonald's own version. The mince meat in the middle of the pie was slightly tangy with a bit of a weird aftertaste which I wasn't too sure about.
Much to my disappointment as a big custard lover, the tangy aftertaste overpowered the custard completely. The pastry was the best bit in my opinion, because it was just so lovely and crispy.

The Celebrations McFlurry
I absolutely loved the Celebrations McFlurry! There was a good amount of chocolate pieces in comparison to the ice cream, and the Mars, Malteser and Galaxy Caramel really stuck out.
It could've done with a bit more chocolate in there if I had to be really picky, but that might not be to everyone's taste. I'd 100% buy this again, again, and again.
Rating: 5/5
Price: £1.49 for regular, 99p for mini
The Verdict
I'm never going to diss McDonald's, because it's probably one of my all time favourite fast food places, but I just really wish the festive chicken burger could've made a return this year. Nevertheless, the cheese melt dippers were a triumph, as expected, and the Celebrations McFlurry was a lovely chocolatey festive treat that we can all appreciate.
If you're a mince pie lover, the festive pie will most likely go down a treat, but I do think that some might consider it a bit sickly with the sweetness of the custard and filling. As a whole, I'm giving the McDonald's festive menu a solid 3/5 because it's missing one vital burger.
