Christmas-themed food has been massive, giving people their festive food fix in the run up to the big day. And here in Bristol, Sandwich Sandwich has its own offering.
Costing £8.95, you get turkey, sage and onion stuffing, gammon with a crispy bacon crumb, thyme and rosemary mayo and cranberry sauce all between two slices of either white or brown bread.
Upon first look at this sandwich I was questioning how I was going to finish it. I’ll be honest I only managed to eat half of what was provided (I saved the other half for later).

Now this is a very chunky sandwich, so trying to get some of each in one mouthful was hard but I managed eventually, with a knife and fork. The taste of everything together did feel very festive but the one standout flavour was the gammon with a strong smoky but tangy taste, which was lovely but almost overpowered the rest of the flavours.
While I’m not much of a turkey fan, preferring different meat for my Christmas lunch, it was actually alright and had a lovely flavour to it. When it was put together with the cranberry sauce the flavours were gorgeous, reminding you of Christmas time. The cranberry sauce itself was divine sweet and very complementary to the turkey meat.
The stuffing was very nice, and was the biggest, thickest layer yet. With strong flavours of onion and sage, this was almost perfect stuffing for me but nothing quite beats your nan's homemade stuffing with a little bit of thyme flavouring.
With the Christmas sandwich you get an option to have a pot of gravy, which I did. This gravy was amazing, strong meaty flavours without tasting like the flavours of a stock cube. Once I had finished the half I drunk almost half a bottle of water to quench the thirst I had got from eating this sandwich.

All told, it was well flavoured and full of filling. I really liked the sandwich, and the idea, I’m just not sure it needs to be that big.
