A chippy open in Wirral for years has yet to get a single TripAdvisor rating.
So I thought it was time to give Martin's Lane Fish and Chips a chance. Full disclosure, I have been to this chippy before as a teenager, but that was a long time ago (longer than I would like to think) and it has since changed owners. And I was also surprised to find there were no ratings for it on the review website.
It is a takeout-only chippy, but staff were quick and friendly bagging up my family's order of a large portion of chips, large fish, three small sausages, a portion of fried rice and two pots of curry sauce. We find this is more than enough for two adults, a teen and a toddler and we were happy when it came in at £18.70 to feed a family of four.

I couldn't wait to get it all on a plate at home, it smelt amazing, just as a chippy tea should. The chips looked golden and fluffy and when I stole a few while plating up (that's the rule, is it not?) I could not wait to get stuck in.
My husband and I shared the fish which was flaky and soft wrapped in crispy, golden batter, just as it should be. The boys had the sausages, which were gone in 60 seconds, some of the perfect chips and the fresh and fluffy fried rice seasoned with soy and spring onions.
But the real star of the show was the delicious curry sauce which was fragrant with a slight sweetness to balance the salt and with a wonderful spicy kick to it. I was so glad we bought two tubs as I smothered my meal in it. In fact, it is the best chip shop curry sauce I have ever had and I wish I could have it on everything. And it was amazing with some of the chips on a piece of buttered bread - I wish I were eating it again now.
I have no idea why this chippy has no TripAdvisor reviews, it was the perfect tea and one I can't wait to have again. Even if it is just for a tub of that curry sauce.
