When it comes to hunting for a new mascara, I usually stick to what I know. But after reading the rave reviews about the new, 17 Extreme Extension Lengthening Mascara from Boots - I knew I had to give it a try. And priced at just £4, or £3 if you’re an Advantage Card customer - all I can say is wow!
I’ve always been pretty #blessed when it comes to my lashes - I’ve used serums for years and always try to remove my makeup (unless I’ve had a few too many…), but during dinner with a friend, she asked if mine were real after applying 17 Extreme Extension Lengthening Mascara! Even my housemate’s who I see daily with and without makeup on couldn’t believe how long they looked - and for less than £5 too!
Boots describe the mascara to give you the “longest [lashes] you've ever known! Give your lashes definition and extreme length with our ecofiber formula mascara.” And they aren’t wrong!
First let’s talk about the brush. I’ve tried a few high end ones with bristles like these - and they gave me similar results for sure. Think Benefit Badgal Bang, Lancôme Lash Idôle and Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara - all which come in over the £20 price mark. I’ve always been more of a ‘brush’ fan when it comes to mascara applicators, but really loved this one! The fine ‘teeth’ really helped apply the mascara evenly - even after a few coats.
I always curl my lashes before applying a mascara, and think this helped with the application - and adding that extra dimension of length we’re always looking for in a mascara!
As for the formula, it’s a good consistency - thick but doesn’t leave your lashes looking or feeling overly clumpy. With some new mascaras before, I’ve had to wipe some of the excess off before - but not with the one from 17.
There’s little to no smell - which is always good when it comes to using a product that close to your eyes.
Now I used the shade 020 Brown - which is more natural should you not want an obvious mascara look day to day. But I seriously can’t wait to get my hands on the black as I think my lashes will look even longer!
My top tip post mascara application - to add even more length is whilst they’re at that ‘tacky’ consistency, push them at the root against my finger (gently!) Blink a little and voila! It also helps remove any excess.
