If you're as enthralled in the world of TikTok as I am, then you've probably seen all the hype around the L'Oreal Telescopic mascara.
The hype mainly started after some controversy surrounding the product, as popular TikTok beauty influencer Mikayla Nogueira was accused of applying false eyelashes when 'testing' the product. This has caused many beauty fans to test out the mascara for themselves, to see if they really do create that false lash effect.
This mascara was incredibly difficult to find, proving just how popular it has become in past few weeks. I went to Superdrug and two different Boots stores and had no luck. In the end, I ordered the mascara at Boots online.

On the Boots website, the full product description for the mascara reads: "Introducing L'Oreal Paris's Telescopic Lift Mascara. Lift your lashes to the next level, with up to 5mm longer looking lashes and up to 24 hour lift. With an exclusive two-sided brush, the flat side allows closer application to the eyeline, with the curved bristles catching lashes from root to tip. Together with the ceramide-infused formula, Telescopic Lift Mascara lengthens and lifts lashes to the next level! No clumping, or smudging. The mascara is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers."
Many mascaras claim to leave 'no clumping' but I often find that's usually not the case - especially after the amount of coats I do. I was really intrigued to see whether this mascara lived up to the hype, so here's how it went.
The mascara
Following the fallout from beauty influencer Mikayla Nogueira paid partnership TikTok video, I wanted to put this mascara to the test. In terms of aesthetics, the packaging for the mascara was fairly basic and felt quite light and cheap for £10.
The mascara wand had really fine bristles with a slight curve. When I applied it to the root of my eyelashes, all the way to the tip, it really clung onto my lashes and separated them effectively.
As I dragged the mascara wand over my lashes, it felt really lightweight, almost as if it wasn't really doing anything, but it definitely was. Even after one coat, my lashes looked considerably longer, and they didn't look clumpy either.
On the second coat, my lashes looked really long, and this was without using an eyelash curler. The curved wand seemed to create a false effect by adding volume to the edge of my lash line, causing them to stick out slightly for a pretty and flirty look.
By the third coat, my lashes had basically tripled in size. The before and after images were pretty staggering, and my lashes looked very bold and thick.
The wand is said to have a 25 degree curl effect, and that's very evident in this mascara compared to other ones I've used. In terms of the colour of the mascara, it was a very bold black, and it made my eyelashes look extra dramatic and thick.
In terms of the 'no clumps' I've got to admit, after three coats my lashes did start to look slightly clumpy, particularly at the root of the lash. However, I've definitely used clumpier mascara in my time, and this one still managed to separate my lashes amazingly.
The verdict
I was seriously impressed with this mascara, and I totally get the hype over it. There are some attributes that were a bit of a pain, like the clumps, but I guess not everyone coats their lashes with mascara three times like I do.
If you're after a mascara that does the job quickly and effectively, the L'Oreal Telescopic mascara is definitely worth purchasing. The thin wand and bristles makes it amazing at grabbing onto each individual lash and really creating that false lash effect.
I wouldn't say that the mascara creates a totally 'false lash effect' look due to its clumping, but it definitely made my lashes look incredibly long. As a whole, I was really impressed.
