I tried the £10 'flawless' L'Oreal foundation and my skin never felt so good

L’Oreal Paris has long been a household name in the beauty industry - and a staple brand in makeup bags around the world.

Shoppers have recently been raving about one of their products in particular - the True Match liquid foundation.

Having undergone a formula upgrade to see an inclusion of hyaluronic acid, which has been one of the beauty buzzwords of the last few years.

It’s been joined by aloe vera and glycerin to offer a ‘skincare infused foundation’, blurring the lines between the two parts of the beauty world.

After being called ‘flawless’ and ‘amazing’ by Boots customers, I went ahead and picked up a bottle to rediscover the foundation that had previously been my everyday go-to around seven years ago.

Now available in 40 shades, ranging from Porcelain Rose to Ebony, the foundation costs £9.99 in store and online at Boots , with a current promotional offer meaning you can get two L’Oreal products for £15.

So, there must have been a reason I’d decided to ditch this particular foundation back when I was in Sixth Form - but would I fall back in love with it in my twenties?

The 30ml bottle is still in the same recognisable clear packaging, with the shades printed on the top. I went for Porcelain Rose Cool, rather than neutral or warm, because of my skin’s undertones.

The foundation which aims to ‘improve skin quality and reveal more radiant and healthier looking skin’ has more than 700 five star reviews online, praised for its blendability and silky finish.

After moisturising, I applied one pump of foundation to my skin and found that a little goes a long way with this fairly thin formula. The colour match was really good, and it offered a natural, bare to skin look that would be ideal for those ‘no-makeup makeup’ days.

However, I prefer a little more coverage when it comes to applying a full face of makeup, so I added a second layer and found it was really buildable, and blended in with the first layer seamlessly.

The L’Oreal True Match foundation had a satin finish, catching the light naturally where it hits the skin for a dewy look.

Not only that, but it felt really healthy and my skin felt bouncy thanks to the hyaluronic acid, and lasted throughout the day without feeling oily or flaky.

L’Oreal said: “True Match Foundation breaks the boundaries between skincare and makeup with a foundation that offers skincare benefits. True Match provides 24h hydration thanks to its hydrating complex consisting of Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin and Aloe Vera extract.

“Moreover, the formula contains vitamin E. The foundation enhances your natural glow whilst allowing your skin to breathe with a non-comedogenic formula suitable for sensitive skin.”

Honestly, after seven years, L’Oreal True Match liquid foundation has just found its way back into my everyday makeup collection - you can try it for yourself here.
