There are many places to eat in Sherwood. There’s Wetherspoons, pizza places, cafes and more, but there’s one dessert place that’s caught our eye.
This place is cheap, cheerful and colourful, as Community Reporter Keimae Blake reports…
Sherwood is a hub for places to eat but if you have a sweet tooth or aren’t particularly fancying fish and chips, Melody Cafe and Desserts is one of the places to go. With a big, blue and bright sign on the front of the store, written in graffiti, you can’t miss this place!
On 542 Mansfield Road is the colourful store where you’ll be looked after with excellent customer service. Walking down the strip of the many shops in Sherwood, inside the Melody Cafe, it was very quiet with only one couple sitting down.

Greeted by a lovely lady, she told me to sit down and bought me a menu. The prices were jaw-droppingly low. A white chocolate crepe for only £4.70? Bargain.
A strawberry delight waffle for £5.90 - amazing. On the back of the menu, I saw that they did breakfast, too.
The shop is open every day 9am-10pm so if their desserts wowed you like they did me, I think it’s safe to say that the breakfasts are definitely worth trying. For £8.90, you can get a Turkish Breakfast Platter which includes: hellim cheese, white cheese, olive, egg, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, sucul basil, parsley, jam and butter with bread.
If you don’t fancy this then you can get a pancake platter with toppings of your choice for £7.80. Sitting down, I looked through the menu and thought I’d treat myself to a milk chocolate crepe for £4.75 with one scoop of ice cream added for £2.50.
The interior of the cafe, I thought as I waited for my food, was vibrant. With pastel-coloured chairs and crafty walls, the inside of the cafe was 10/10.
As I waited, I also ordered a fresh orange juice and to my disappointment when it came it had bits in it. Now, call me picky but I can’t drink orange juice with bits in it, it has to be smooth.
The lady was lovely about it and sieved out most of the bits for me. I did feel bad for being a pain though.
When my crepe came it looked delicious and smothered in tons of chocolate. My crepe was perfectly cooked on both sides.
The added ice cream was just what it needed and the presentation (before I ate it) was Instragamable. It’s safe to say that I’ll definitely be going back to this dessert diner and it gives people in Sherwood another reason to not have to travel into town!
