I'm a big fan of dupe products, and I'm always on the look out for the next bargain to save me some cash.
As beautiful and amazing as Charlotte Tilbury products are, they often come at a hefty fee. For me, an item from Charlotte Tilbury is an absolute treat, which is why I really wanted to find an affordable alternative.
There are plenty of retailers offering Charlotte Tilbury dupes, such as Aldi, Revolution, and now Primark. A limited edition 'Instant Eye Palette Pillow Talk' will set you back £60, and that for an eyeshadow palette is a huge amount of money.

I'd heard that Primark had brought out their own range of Charlotte Tilbury dupes, and knew I had to try them. Since my local store on Church Street is usually pretty rammed, I wasn't holding much hope on snapping up many dupes.
As expected, I could only get my hands on their £6 eyeshadow palette dupe for the Pillow Talk palette. I was hoping I'd be able to find their Pillow Talk lipstick dupe, but sadly didn't manage to.
I decided to create my own makeup look with the palette and wore it for a solid eight hours in the office. Here's how it went.
How the palettes compared
Aesthetically, Primark's palette was really pretty. It definitely had similarities to Charlotte Tilbury products in terms of the colour scheme, but it wasn't strikingly similar.
The inside of the palette had that same rose gold/pink tone that we all know and love, with the casing of the palette looking a little cheaper and slightly more 'basic' than Charlotte Tilbury. To me though, that didn't really matter at all, because it's always all about the pigmentation of the eyeshadow.
Just like the Charlotte Tilbury version, the palette was split into sections. The Primark palette was split into 'dawn' and 'dusk' with the original Charlotte Tilbury palette being split into sections called 'day' 'dusk' 'date' and 'dream'.
I'd never actually seen different sections in an eyeshadow palette before, so I thought that was a really nice feature. Although the Primark palette had less sections, it still had a good choice of warm, pinky, glittery tones that looked really beautiful.
I absolutely loved the 'dawn' shades, which consisted of fresh and warm colours such as pale pinks and brown sandy shades. They were all matte in terms of consistency and looked extremely pigmented when patted onto my eyelid with a flat eyeshadow brush.
The 'dusk' section of the palette had much bolder pinks, glittery golds and more statement colours. These sort of colours would be perfect for a night out, with the 'dawn' shades designed more for everyday wear.
Applying the eyeshadow
I was actually amazed at how easy the palette was to blend. Usually, eyeshadow palettes for a cheaper price can either be really pigmented but difficult to blend, or really faint and easy to blend. The Primark palette offered pigmentation and a creamy consistency - which I absolutely loved.
I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of quality, but this £6 Primark Charlotte Tilbury dupe wound up being way better than I thought. I can sometimes be put off if an eyeshadow palette looks basic on the exterior, but Primark seriously proved me wrong with this one.
How long the colour lasted
In the day, I wore the matte creamy brown shade and added the shimmery glittery shade to my inner corner for a bit of added drama. The brown shade stayed on my eyelids pretty much all day, but the shimmery shade did slightly fall out onto my face a little bit.
Of course, that's always expected with shimmery shades in general no matter how much you pay, so that didn't really bother me. The base matte brown shade stayed put throughout a whole day in the office, and for £6, that's pretty amazing.
My verdict
I'm not saying I'm never going to purchase Charlotte Tilbury again, because her products are just dreamy, aren't they? However, I really do think that Primark have knocked it out of the park with this one.
Not only was the palette beautiful to look at, but it contained such a high quality eyeshadow formula that really impressed me. It was so easy to blend on my eyelid, and remained perfectly planted on my face even after I applied heaps of eyeliner.
All I'm saying is you'll need to be quick if you want to get your hands on any of Primark's Charlotte Tilbury dupes, because it was slim pickings at Liverpool's Church Street store.
