Foundation can be the one beauty product that either makes or breaks your look. With so many options on the UK market, it can be hard to find the right match for you. And since it creates the base for the rest of your make-up - it's important to get it just right.
One afternoon, I was checking my inbox when I received an e-mail from Boots announcing that KVD Vegan Beauty's sell-out Good Apple Foundation Balm was back in stock. It said that the product had 'flew off the shelves' thanks to going viral on Tik Tok, with one sold every minute, but now it was available to purchase again online. My interest was immediately piqued.

I ordered a sample of the KVD Vegan Beauty 's Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Foundation Balm for myself and it wasn't long before it arrived on my doorstep. The product comes in fully recyclable packaging, and the formula is said to be completely vegan and cruelty-free. It's also infused with apple extract which is said to nourish the skin.
The foundation comes in an ornately decorated clear compact. There's no mirror included, but I didn't find that to be a problem as I have plenty of my own around the house.
When swatching the product onto my skin I found it to have a very creamy and oily texture. After I had cleansed and moisturised my face, I chose to apply it onto my skin with a brush so I could pick up more of the product, instead of a sponge which is likely to absorb a lot of the product instead.
The foundation had a really lightweight feel on my face and seemed to become drier as I applied it, I then went over the area with a damp beauty blender to smooth out any streaky-looking areas.
When I looked back in the mirror I was pleasantly surprised. The foundation seemed to have completely covered any redness or blemishes on my face. I hadn't needed to use much product either, so the finished look seemed more natural instead of cakey.
I finished with the rest of my make-up routine and set the foundation with Laura Mercier's translucent loose setting powder which I used to bake, followed by KVD Vegan Beauty's Lock-It setting powder and make-up setting mist.
Next up was the wear test. During the rest of the afternoon, I was on the lookout for any oily or dry areas emerging on my face from wearing the product, this included any fine lines or visible pores appearing from where it had separated too.
I didn't need to wear the foundation for a full day, but during the five hours that I wore it, it did hold up pretty well. My face didn't get any oily patches and the foundation didn't make my face feel super dry or tight either.
My skin can naturally get a bit dry sometimes and since the formula claims to nourish the skin, the foundation actually made my face feel more supple and soft the longer I wore it. Once it was time to remove my make-up, my skin looked more refreshed than it usually does after I remove a full face of foundation, and there was no irritation or break-outs either.
Would I wear Good Apple Sin-Perfecting Foundation Balm again? The answer is yes.
But those with drier skin probably want to bear in mind they would likely benefit from making sure their face is properly moisturised before they use the product, as it can be a bit drying when you first apply it, but it becomes more nourishing throughout the day. Since the Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Foundation Balm is an oil-based product, I'd recommend an oil-based primer to go with it.
