There's nothing quite like a spell of sleep deprivation to enforce just how vital it is to our well-being.
From mood swings to weakened immunity, there's a whole host of side effects that come our way if we're not getting enough of it. Having survived the sleepless nights that came with having babies - and let's be honest, in one way or another, it carries on way beyond the infant years - I value my sleep more than ever.
I can cope with much less than I used to get, the joys of teething babies and teddies falling out of bed just out of reach, meant, like most parents, I got plenty of practice. But nothing quite sets you up for the day like a undisturbed seven or eight-hour kip.

Even now it's something I rarely get. Whether it's struggling to sleep because my mind's going overtime, or being disturbed by my husband coming to bed later than me, or getting up for work at 5.30 - he's always been able to survive on less sleep than me - it's rare that it's uninterrupted.
And that's without taking into account my weird dreams, sleep talking or even walking.
So when I spotted the CBD infused pillow at Home Bargains for £12.99, I thought it had to be worth a try.
I'll quite often spray some lavendar at bedtime, but in this case I didn't need to, because as well as being infused with CBD - or Cannabidiol, an active ingredient in cannabis - it's also blended with aloe vera and lavendar too.
It's actually the pillow case that's infused, but it comes with a medium support pillow too.
The description from Slumberdown states: "Our unique CBD infused cotton pillowcase with pillow, has been carefully blended with aloe vera and lavendar to create a calming, comforting and soothing experience. Known for wellbeing, CBD can help to reduce anxiety and stress so you can enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating sleep."
The pillow itself is more padded to what I was used to, so I tried to flatten it slightly before use. You can smell the lavendar from the case more than anything else and in fact that's all I could smell as I drifted off within minutes of my head touching the pillow.
I'm not sure if it was the aroma taking effect, or the fact I was consciously making an effort to breath it in with deep breaths that helped me drift off, but it worked.
And the most remarkable thing was the fact my sleep was undisturbed - for the first time in a very long time.
I didn't wake when my husband got in bed an hour or so after me and, unlike usual, I didn't hear his alarm, or him getting up and leaving for work at all. I don't remember any weird dreams and as far as I'm aware I wasn't doing any muttering in the night either.
It could well be a fluke, only time will tell, but so far I'd say it's £12.99 well spent, plus the pillow itself is machine washable. I'm assured the 'sleep technology is designed to last multiple washes' so I'm hoping the scent on the case doesn't fade anytime soon.
Of course, it could all be in my head, convincing myself I'll have a restful sleep and therefore relaxing more and enabling myself to have precisely that - the power of positive thinking and all that.
But power or pillow, I couldn't care less if it means having a peaceful night's sleep. It just means everyone else in my family now wants one too.
The Slumberdown CBD infused pillow can be bought in store at Home Bargains for £12.99.
It's also sold by Asda for £15, Studio for £20, and Argos and Amazon for £22. Amazon also sells a pack of two for £35.50.
