I tried Domino's new Grilled Vegi Pesto pizza - and it's the ideal guilt-free treat

I love a pizza as much as the next person, but I have to say, as a meat-eater I was quite sceptical about the latest addition to Domino's menu.

Sausages, pepperoni and beef are just a few of some of my preferred flavours when opting for pizza, but I was keen to try something new.

And does it get any healthier than a vegetable pizza?

The limited-edition Grilled Vegi Pesto pizza is loaded with chargrilled courgettes, vibrant red, green and yellow peppers, juicy tomatoes and a sprinkle of crunchy red onions.

It's finished with a tasty pesto drizzle, topped with vine-ripened tomato sauce and a generous sprinkling of mozzarella. It's available from Domino's now from £16.99 for a small.

My pizza arrived promptly for a late WFH lunch and as usual my local Domino's driver was pleasant.

I'm not used to my pizzas having such a green hue, but I love pesto - so very quickly got over the colour palette and got stuck straight in.

I like vegetables so eating them on a pizza wasn't a huge issue, although it did take me a few bites to get used to the crunch sensation.

I was really surprised at how all of the flavours meshed so nicely together. I added Nando's Medium Peri sauce to mine to give it the extra kick in spice that I enjoy. I can definitely see this as the perfect last minute meal for summer parties.

Who doesn't love a sweet treat post pizza? (Bri Lovelace)

Sometimes after a pizza I can be left feeling lethargic and often warm from the meat sweats. I didn't experience that at all eating the Veggie Pesto, so it is really a great addition to the veggie line up for now.

My mum also tried the pizza and easily got through three slices without batting an eyelid.

Included in our order was the new After Eight cookies, you get four cookies with a mint fondant centre, flavoured with 100% natural peppermint and baked in Domino’s signature chocolate cookie dough.

I only tried one because I don't like mint and chocolate together - but taking one for the team, my mum thoroughly enjoyed them.

I'd definitely recommend the new additions for anyone looking for a healthier and lighter option as the weather starts to warm up.

For my Domino's pizza rating, I'd give it a strong 8 out of 10.

What's more, Domino’s is offering a new Tasty Twosome deal where pizza lovers can bag two medium pizzas for just £19.99 - a great way to save money and try out the new pizza.

Or you can bag yourself an Easter deal which includes two Medium Pizzas, two Sumptuous Sides or Cookies for £22.99 from April 14 - 18.

After Eight Cookies are also making a comeback for a 'chocolatey' twist to your Easter orders.
