I tried Aldi’s new Specialbuy that’s cheaper than Estee Lauder and felt as boujee as Molly Mae Hague

Earlier this year, Molly Mae shared her glowing 8-step nightly skincare routine that costs a whopping £361, which left fans scrambling to find cheaper alternatives to the new mum’s must-have skincare saviours.

One of the products the Manchester Love Island star swears by is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum, but it doesn’t come cheap, costing £57.60 for just 30ml.

And even Molly admitted that they’re somewhat costly, telling fans: “At first it's hard to see the benefits when you are in your 20s, but I know it's just so important to not compromise on your skincare, and Estee Lauder skincare products in general are meant to be incredible, but they are definitely slightly pricey."

So in swoops Aldi with a brand new skincare range seemingly inspired by the luxury celeb-loved brand - for 90 per cent cheaper.

The new ProNight Advanced Skincare line comes as the supermarket’s cruelty-free offering continues to claim cult status, with searches for #AldiSkincare hitting a staggering 4M views on TikTok alone.

Ahead of the three new products launching in stores this weekend on Sunday, March 12, I tried them out to see if the overnight beauty buys were worthy of being called a ‘dupe’.

The new natural and antioxidant-rich Lacura ProNight Advanced range includes a hydrating face serum, moisturising face cream and restoring eye serum, and if they are truly up to standard, they could potentially be saving shoppers up to £154 compared to Estée Lauder.

Dermatalogically tested, the eye serum comes in at £4.99, compared to Estée Lauder’s advanced night repair eye concentrate matrix, which is £53.10 per bottle.

The cream and serum are both £5.99, with Estée Lauder’s cream and serum coming in at £46.50 and £57.60 respectively.

The products all come in beautiful amber and gold containers, placed inside light blue boxes - which are what you’ll want to look out for in store on Sunday, March 12, when they launch.

The bottles are certainly inspired by Estée Lauder’s, and are pretty recognisable as what people would consider to be a dupe.

The order to apply these products is serum, cream, eye serum, which will work overnight to ‘repair, hydrate and rejuvenate whilst reversing daytime sun damage’, according to Aldi.

The face serum was my favourite product from the launch. It was really lightweight and non-greasy, which surprised me as I thought it would have been.

The serum has a pipette dispenser, the top of which is quite firm, so it takes a little bit of pressure to suck up and drip out the product - this makes it feel quite expensive, and prevents over-dispensing the product onto the skin, too.

Absorbing quickly into my skin, it left me with a really glowing complexion - something that Molly Mae is so well known for. I’m not often blown away by serums as they can frequently feel like an extra faff in an already overcomplicated routine, but this one made me feel seriously boujee and bright-eyed. It also has a super subtle, but very pleasant, fragrance which gave it a spa-like quality too.

Next up is the Lacura ProNight Advanced Face Cream which aims to reduce the look of wrinkles, dark circles and signs of ageing. Formulated with Shea Butter and Hyaluronic Acid it aims to retain moisture in the skin for a plumper appearance.

I wasn’t in love with the product, but that’s not to say it isn’t any good. Personally, I prefer skincare products to be dispensed rather than in pots that you have to dip your finger in, and found that it felt a little tacky on my skin even 15-20 minutes after applying. I do appreciate overnight products do tend to have a more exaggerated feel, but this one I had hoped would feel a little silkier than it did.

That said, the eye serum was an absolute dream to use, and if with prolonged use it can ditch my dark circles, then I’ll be made up. After just a few days of use my eyes felt less puffy and tired, so I hope we are on the right track with it. It's also PINK, which makes skincare a little more fun, too.

The range is certainly an affordable way to stock up on skincare products that aim to offer more youthful looking skin, doing all the hard work while you sleep. It comes in much cheaper than previous apparent dupes like the L’Oreal Midnight Serum, which is £29.99 per bottle.

The packaging is really luxe with the amber and gold, and the face serum in particular was really impressive, providing instantly glowy skin that made me feel as boujee as influencer Molly Mae.

Expected to be another cult sell-out, the products can be found in the Aldi Specialbuys aisle from Sunday, March 12.
