I tried Aldi's new £5.99 perfumes that are dupes for these high end bottles

Known for their bargain beauty dupes, Aldi have launched two new perfumes that could see shoppers save up to £92 on their favourite scent. The Lacura products launched online this week, with pre-orders selling out in 48 hours.

The two new fragrances in their dermatologically tested line-up include the Lacura Lady Pour Femme and Lacura Atom. Both priced at £5.99 for 100ml, they’re already a snip of the price of most high street and high end perfumes.

Set to launch in stores this Thursday, April 14, Lacura Lady Pour Femme is said to be a dupe of the £98 Carolina Herrera Good Girl.

The Aldi version comes in a tall pyramid style bottle in a deep blue colour. It boasts notes of sandalwood and tonka bean that complement undertones of orange blossom and Bulgarian rose, and smells really warming and cosy.

The second new scent is said to be very similar to Escentric Molecules’ Molecule 1 perfume. Lacura’s Atom could save shoppers £66 on the big name brand, and has been ‘carefully formulated with Iso E Super’.

This perfume offers a warm and woody scent that is designed to adapt to each wearer. With velvet and amber aromas that can strengthen over time, this fragrance is one that doesn’t really need topping up throughout the day like with some cheaper perfumes.

The bottle for Atom is similar to Armani Diamonds in shape, round, clear and relatively simple. But for me, it’s the scent that matters more than how good the bottle looks on your bedside table.

Both cruelty free fragrances have a sophisticated and luxury feeling fragrance, offering designer scent without the hefty price tag that comes with them. Of the two, my favourite was the Lacura Lady Pour Femme, which was slightly sweeter but still had that sensual, almost masculine element to it that I love in a perfume.

Shoppers are thrilled that cult favourite Lacura Dark Blossom is also returning to the middle aisle. The YSL Black Opium dupe sees top notes of pink pepper and orange blossom undercut by sweet jasmine and coffee aromas.

With savings of up to 93 per cent compared to similar brands, customers should act fast if they want to get their hands on these gorgeous scents as, as with all Specialbuys once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Shoppers who snapped up the fragrances online have left five star reviews, saying they smell ‘amazing’. One said: “Dark Blossom smells like YSL Black Opium. Good for everyday wear save the expensive stuff for special occasions.”

Another added: “Smells great and similar to one of the named brand perfume which I have. Would definitely buy again and especially at such a fantastic price!”

“Fantastic smells amazing, will buy again,” wrote a third.

Aldi’s Women’s fragrances are available to buy in stores from April 14, while stocks last.
