“I tried Aldi’s mascara that’s very similar to L'Oréal's Telescopic item”

Dupes are taking the retail industry by storm and Aldi has now weighed in with their trending beauty buys. The middle aisle at the chain has some amazing beauty products on offer right now.

One of the ‘sell-out items’ back in stock is the Lacura Girl Gone Bad Mascara costing just £5.99. The item description reads: “A lash-hugging brush design and formulated with Vitamin E, this mascara will lengthen lashes to create a voluminous finish.”

TikTok users have been taking to the platform to share their thoughts on the products. One user @Joanne_Baxter claimed the product was just like L'Oréal's Telescopic Mascara saying: “Just as good…and half the price.” Another, @LifewithKirsty said: “The wand is really nice and thin, it glides on the lashes and doesn’t make them clumpy.”

I decided that I would give the Laura Girl Gone Bad Mascara a go to see whether it was worth all the hype.

The packaging the mascara came in was pretty standard for a mascara, but the bright green lettering on the black box does make the name of the item stand out. Once you open the box, you are greeted with the same rose gold casing the lip trio comes in.

Opening the product itself, the first thing you really notice is how small and thin the brush actually is. A lot of mascaras from bigger brands tend to sway towards having the big voluminous brushes which allow your lashes to be coated a lot more in one coat. Another thing I noticed was how bendy the brush was, whether this had an effect on the result I don’t know but I have never seen this on any other mascara before.

Now it was time to test the product out. To get my lashes ready I quickly used my lash curler to give them a bit of a lifted shape before going in with the product. The mascara actually gilded really nicely onto my lashes, it didn't overly coat them in one layer, which for me is something I prefer.

I did find that the product was a little messy, it overcoated my bottom lashes a bit too much, making it transfer to my under eye but that is something I could easily deal with. Overall this is a really decent alternative to some of the more expensive brands on the market, it gives a good layer of coverage from just one coating and it volumises your lashes just like other brands.

Shoppers can also pick up the mascara on Amazon's website, where it costs around £9.99.
