I tried Aldi's 99p Marc Jacobs dupe and it's heaven in a bottle

Aldi fans have been raving about a 99p cleaning spray with many claiming it smells just like Marc Jacobs’ ‘Decadence’ perfume, so I decided to put it to the test.

Cleaning your kitchen is never fun and is a task often dreaded by most - but the 99p Fabulosa 'Opulence' cleaning spray makes the monotonous job feel somewhat enjoyable. The Aldi spray has already gone viral on video social media platform TikTok, with many shoppers obsessing over the product.

Fabulosa was launched in March 2019 on the back of household cleaning products manufacturer, Active Brand Concepts. The 99p bottle gives you 500ml of product, which is a pretty impressive amount for the price.

I visited my local Aldi and was lucky enough to get my hands on the popular product, though it was actually the last bottle on the shelf! Then it was time to put it the test and see how well it performs when cleaning - a job I'm never motivated to do.

The spray

In terms of aesthetics, the bottle of Fabulosa in the scent ‘Opulence’ looks very girly, which I'm a big fan of. With a lot of pink tones on its packaging, along with the bright pink of the liquid itself, the cleaning product definitely has a pretty, feminine touch.

The fragrance description describes it as "floral with top notes of bergamot, ripe plum and iris, a heart of rose, jasmine, ylang and orris and a rich powdered base of amber, patchouli, vetiver, woods, musk and vanilla.” With one spritz, I immediately understood why it's so often compared to luxury perfume.

Fabulosa's 'Opulence' is incredibly similar to Marc Jacobs’ ‘Decadence’ which also lists ingredients amber, rose, jasmine and orris in its product description. It’s very clear to see the similarities between the two, and I love it.

With just a few sprays of the cleaning product, I felt like I’d stepped onto the beauty floor of a swanky department store and it made my entire kitchen smell amazing. I’d go as far as to say the scent was that beautiful, it made me want to thoroughly clean my whole kitchen - cupboards and all! If that doesn't tell you how effective and intoxicating this product is, then nothing will.

It gave a really nice shine to my worktops and the scent lasted for a good while after I’d finished cleaning. Considering this spray is only 99p, I was shocked at its high quality.

The verdict

This cleaning product was basically heaven in a bottle. It smelt absolutely amazing and gave my kitchen a really polished look.

It’s not everyday I excessively clean my worktops because something smells so good, so ‘Opulence’ is definitely a blessing in disguise. For those after a refreshing feminine scent to surround their kitchen that also offers a lot of similarities to Marc Jacobs’ perfume - for a fraction of the price - this Fabulosa product is the one for you.

It’s not just Marc Jacobs either, as the brand is said to replicating a number of different high-end perfumes including Tom Ford and Yves Saint Laurent. I'll be keeping an eye out for when those hit the shelves.

It takes a lot to motivate me to clean my kitchen, which is why I’ll be giving this cleaning spray a solid 5/5. You can purchase it from Aldi by clicking here, or find your nearest Aldi store here.
