I took a fiver and got an incredible amount of Boots' new 'Everyday' products

Boots has launched a new 'Everyday' range featuring 60 essential products, all of which are priced £1.50 or less. As we are all feeling the pinch of the cost of living, I decided to take £5 to my local Boots store to see what I could find, and if the products were worth it.

The essential items released by Boots include toiletries, dental, haircare, skincare and period products. I went to the Boots store at the Northgate Retail Park in Newark, and was pleasantly surprised by the products available in the new range.

Despite expecting the new range to be gathered together, the products are actually spread out across the store in the relevant sections. However, you can easily spot products in the range by looking for the red prices on the shelves, which state Everyday Low Price.

The first items placed in my basket was the Coconut and Almond shampoo and the Mango and Papaya conditioner. Each product is 500ml and priced at 75p, making it £1.50 for the pair.

Further into the store, I picked up a zingy fresh lime hand wash, which was 85p for 250ml. Then after much debate over scents, I decided on a 250ml Berries and Cream shower gel for 85p, but other scents in the range include Mango and Paypaya, Coconut and Almond, Fresh Lime, Zesty Lemon and Raspberries and Pomegranate.

Moving on to the dental section I found a standard 100ml tube of toothpaste for £1, but there was also a sensitive version available for the same price. Although I didn't pick any up, further along the shelf there was one of the range's more expensive items, 500ml mouth wash for total care or sensitive teeth, costing £1.30 for 500ml.

I also spotted disposable mint flossers for £1.50, and cleansing wipes for £1. The next item in my basket was a pack of ultra towels, which were 70p for 14.

The shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, toothpaste and ultra towels had only cost me £4.90. I was pleased with the amount of items I was able to get and how colourful the products were, and although I have not tried everything yet, the toothpaste works well and the hand soap smells delicious.

However, according to MoneySavingExpert, the new range might not be as good as it seems and customers should still compare prices elsewhere. Compared with own brand items of the same size at Superdrug and Savers, the cheapest 250ml shower gel is available for 49p from Superdrug, rather than 85p at Boots.

Toothpaste is also available at Saver's for 95p, and mouthwash for £1 rather than £1.30 at Boots. However, Boots did have the cheapest shampoo for 75p, compared to £1.49 at Savers or £2.99 at Superdrug.

Boots advantage card holders are also able to get up to 50% off certain own brand products at the store, with the items included changing on a monthly basis.
