'I text him' - Virgil van Dijk calls out Thierry Henry in post-match interview after Liverpool win

Virgil van Dijk says Arsenal legend Thierry Henry 'didn't text him back' in a hilarious interview after Liverpool's 3-2 win over Villarreal in the Champions League.

The Reds were 2-0 down at half-time and a sensational turn around in the second half booked their place in the final at the Stade de France later this month. Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane were among the goals on what was another historic night for the club.

During his post-match interviews, Van Dijk caught up with American TV network CBS Sports. When he was informed Henry was part of the punditry line-up alongside Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards, the Dutchman joked about the exchange.

He said in the interview : "I text him, but he didn't text me back! You tell him now, the legend."

Back in the studio, Henry explained himself and insisted

The Frenchman said: "I actually don't have his number anymore! I'll go through someone else to get his number. I changed my number at the same time and when I put all the numbers on my new phone, his wasn't there.

"He [Van Dijk] didn't text the right number. I'll get him. Carragher is just upset because he's texting me!"

Liverpool will now face either Real Madrid or Man City in the final. The second-semi-final takes place on Wednesday night at the Bernabeu, Pep Guardiola's side lead 4-3 on aggregate heading into the game.

Jurgen Klopp has guided his side to their third Champions League final in five years, having won the competition in Madrid back in 2019. An unprecedented quadruple remains a possibility for the club as they look to achieve the unthinkable.
