A woman who suffers from neuromuscular disorders has shared how borrowing two dogs from a stranger changed her life for the better.
Liz Chandler, 53, based in Liverpool, was diagnosed with a long-term muscular condition in 2019 and soon after made the decision to prioritise her physical and mental health.
"I have myasthenia gravis, arthritis and chronic pains. Some days I feel very fatigued and need a lot of pain medication," Liz explained.
Liz signed up to BorrowMyDoggy on a whim and was surprised when she was contacted by a lady looking for help.
Liz and Julie joined forces, and within a matter of weeks, cavapoos Daisy and Rio had slotted in Liz's life and made a huge difference to her health and happiness.
"They help me manage my pain psychologically and physically. I get so much back," Liz praised.

"Julie messaged me in October and asked if I'd be interested in meeting her two dogs - she wanted them to socialise with different people," Liz explained.
"It's hard to describe how much they mean to me. They're just two bundles of joy. I can hear them woof as soon as Julie drops them off."
Since sharing her furry friends with a stranger, Julie has found a close friend in Liz and leans on her for help.
"I get all the best parts of having a dog without the responsibility," Liz said. "But they are always happy to go back to their mum."
Liz sees the cavapoos twice a week and takes them out for walks, which has helped her physically cope with her conditions.
"They are great for cuddles which helps me mentally, and they just bring joy into my life," Liz said.
Liz describes Daisy and Rio as "simply gorgeous" and says they encourage her to get outside and meet other people.
"Dog walkers have even asked if I'll walk their dogs," Liz chuckled.
Julie commented: "After the first lockdown, I thought Daisy and Rio would benefit from more opportunities to mix with other people. As soon as I'd registered, which was really easy, Liz was the first name that came up.
"The great thing about BorrowMyDoggy is that you can see and meet the borrowers first and make sure you're comfortable.
"My family has had some illnesses during this time and it's been so helpful that the girls have been able to go to Liz's."
These ladies aren't the only ones recommending BorrowMyDoggy - Alison Moss, 60, from Leicestershire, began walking Labrador Teddy and became so close with his owners, she was even invited to their baby shower and big day.
"I can't believe it's developed from borrowing a dog to gaining two lovely friends, going to their wedding and now the baby is here, I'm going to help look after the baby too," Alison told The Mirror.
"All from one website and having the courage to sign up."
