'I still think' - Jamie Carragher makes blunt Everton transfer point and new season prediction

Jamie Carragher believes Everton have prized two of Burnley's best players out of Turf Moor - but still fears for the Goodison Park club.

Frank Lampard managed to steer the Blues away from the Premier League dropzone last season after a tough campaign. This summer, fans were made to wait for the club to embark on transfer activity as they sold Richarlison to Tottenham, but Everton have since welcomed James Tarkowski, Ruben Vinagre and Dwight McNeil at Goodison.

The former Liverpool defender spoke highly of the Blues ' two additions, he told Football Daily's Twitter Space : "To be honest a week ago it felt very worrying for Everton with what was going to happen, who they were going to replace, I still think it'll be a tough season for them in terms of there will be weekends where they're getting beat and they're not getting the result that they want.

"I think they've got the two best players out of Burnley, you might say Burnley got relegated but I'm a big fan of Tarkowski, I have been for a number of years and I've always felt Dwight McNeil, I don't want to sound disrespectful to Burnley, but he was always a classy player in a rough and tough Burnley team.

"He just seemed to have lost his edge last season for whatever reason. I always look at him and think he can do a lot more, I see him in a few games and think what a lovely left-foot that lad's got and I seen him at Goodison a couple of seasons ago, he scored a wondergoal and they won 1-0 - he was the best player on the pitch by a mile.

"But sometimes I think can he have a bit more intensity and aggression in his game on the ball, I do think he's got real quality. You just think they still have to bring in a couple of more players otherwise it will be a tough season for them.

"Richarlison is going to be a huge miss and you dread to think what would happen if Calvert-Lewin was out for a month or six weeks with a slight knock as he normally seems to be every season. I fear for them that it'd be another tough season."
