Relationships can be tricky and there's certainly no one size fits all approach.
But most people would say that being honest with each other is the most essential part of any relationship - and that it's over when the trust goes.
One woman who decided to cheat on her partner thinks differently, however - and thinks her boyfriend has turned a blind eye.
Marketing consultant Chloe, from Lincoln, started her first affair just weeks before her 30th birthday because she craved more exciting sex.
She says she was stuck in a rut with her long-term boyfriend and dubbed the sex ‘boring’.

She said: “We had become that classic Sunday morning couple - having sex like clockwork every Sunday morning at the same time, in the same position and in the same way.
“I could set my clock by it every week when he would roll over and say: ‘hi gorgeous.’
“I was dying for a little more excitement and picked up a fella on a night out with the girls a few weeks before my 30th birthday.
“We had nowhere to go so we ended up having sex in little wooded area in a park near my home.
“I found the sex incredibly exciting and knew that one affair was not going to be enough for me.”
A friend of Chloe’s had been using IllcitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading affairs site, to meet wealthy lovers and suggested she give it a try.
Chloe has had two affairs with men in the last two months.
She said: “The first was with a chef who is stuck in a sexless marriage and just wants a bit on the side to have some fun with.
“We went out for a drink and then had sex in the back of his car after driving to a nearby beauty spot.
“It was fun bonking on the back seat - I hadn’t done that since I was a teenager.
“I had a second affair with a pub owner who I met on IllicitEncounters.
“He has an open relationship with his wife and we had sex in the flat over one of his pubs just after Christmas.”
Chloe doesn’t feel guilty about cheating on her boyfriend.
She said: “We have just bought a house together and I do love him and want to stay with him. I have always been more adventurous about sex and he has accepted that. I think he turns a blind eye to my affairs.”
Chloe was speaking as a new survey by IllicitEncounters.com revealed the top ten cheating treats of men and women.
In tenth place on both the men and women’s lists was being spurred to have an affair by being in the last year of a decade - 29, 39, 49 etc - like Chloe.
The most popular cheating trait for both sexes was one or both parents being cheats, too.
IllicitEncounters.com sex and relationship expert Jessica Leoni said: “If your partner is approaching a milestone birthday such as 30 or 40 you need to be extra vigilant.
“Starting a new decade forces people to reassess their lives and they often end a failing relationship, or cheer themselves up by having an affair.”
IllicitEncounters.com has enjoyed the busiest start to a New Year in its 19 year history as fears over the pandemic ease.
It is expecting a 23 per cent rise in subscriptions over the next six months as people make up for lost time and start new affairs now they know the new Omicron variant is less virulent.
