'I snuck my dog into my grandad's funeral - now my family hate me'

Loosing a loved one is heartbreaking - and can take years to come to terms with.

While everybody mourns in their own way, one woman has been slammed for how she 'honoured' her late grandad on the day of his funeral.

The woman, who has shared her story on Reddit, has explained how her family turned against her after she "snuck" her dog into his service.

She said: "I recently lost my grandfather and was really close to him. He was the one who got me my dog, Oswald, when I was a kid and we were inseparable.

"So when it came time for his funeral, I wanted to bring Oswald with me as a way to honour him.

"However, my family said that no animals were allowed and I had to leave Oswald at home. I pleaded with them, but they wouldn't budge."

Not wanting to take no for an answer, the woman explained how she "snuck" Oswald into the service - and ended up "ruining" her family's last goodbyes because of it.

She added: "I snuck Oswald into the funeral. He was well-behaved and just sat by my feet the whole time.

"But then my auntie saw him and started yelling at me, saying that I was being disrespectful. That's when I lost it and got into a shouting match with her. It turned into a big scene and ruined the funeral."

While most users agreed the woman was in the wrong for sneaking her dog into her grandad's service, others spoke about how she also "disrespected" her grandad by ruining the day.

One user said: "You disobeyed your family and brought a dog into a venue that doesn't allow dogs. It may be upsetting, but there's a reason dogs aren't allowed in certain places.

"Maybe you can visit your grandfather's grave site with your dog at a later date."

Another user added: "Not only were you wildly disrespectful in breaking the rules, then you blew up when someone called you out for it?

"Your grandfather must have been rolling over in his grave, if you were my kid and you pulled something like that I would be so mortified and embarrassed by the sheer disrespect you showed."

A third user said: "The people who pay for the funeral (your family) are the ones that get to say whether or not someone is invited.

"You were explicitly told your dog wasn't invited, and then you were rude enough to bring him anyway and make a scene at a funeral."
