I shopped the Boots 70% off sale and uncovered some seriously good bargains

Heading down the escalator I could already see the big red banners, calling bargain hunters like a lighthouse beacon. For many, it’s the seasonal sale of the year, prime for stocking up on next years’ Christmas gifts, or treating yourself to something new.

The Boots 70 per cent off sale launched in store and online on March 1, much to the excitement of customers, and sees the price of hundreds of their Christmas gifts slashed by over two thirds.

Arming myself with a basket, I made my way down the first aisle and was met with an hoard of savvy shoppers who, like me, had been waiting for the hotly anticipated announcement of the sale, which includes a number of brands like Ted Baker, FCUK and Real Techniques.

In advance of the sale launching, I had already followed a number of my top tips for scoring a bargain. I knew the opening times, knew where all the Christmas stock was kept, had an idea of what I wanted, and had ensured all of my Advantage Card offers were loaded on my app, in case I could gain any bonus points.

Four years of working at Boots had prepared me well for post-Christmas sales, but it’s nice to be on the other side of the tills these days, too.

Around the store, there are 70 per cent off signs which also have an easy breakdown of new prices, for example, anything marked £5 is now £1.50, anything that was £6 is now £1.80, what was £8.50 is £2.55, and anything that was £10 is now £3 - and so on.

Hunting around the store, I uncovered some seriously good bargains, such as these two beautiful rubbed wine glasses with gold detailing from Elixir, which were £14 down to £4.20, which would make a lovely gift for an upcoming birthday.

Those looking for a new pair of slippers could pick up a £16 pair for £4.80, and with Mother’s Day coming up, it’s the perfect place to stock up on pamper gifts in time for March 19.

Another fantastic bargain came in the form of a Real Techniques brush set that was £50, now down to just £15. The limited edition 13-piece set worked out at a little over £1 per brush, which any beauty lover would consider a steal.

One of the biggest savings also came from the Revolution You Are The Revolution Advent Calendar, which we reviewed before Christmas. Worth a whopping £94, the beauty calendar retailed for £45, but is now just £12.75 in store, containing 25 beauty products. Around 50p per product, it’s perfect for saving for December 2023, if you can find one in your local store. Although mine did seem to have quite a few in stock.

For the gents, there was quite a cool FCUK set featuring a beanie hat and some bath and body products down to £6 from £20, making for a wonderful gift for the outdoorsy types.

And if you’re a bit of a weekend staycationer, the Champney’s bag was £46, but is down to £13.80 for a pleather bag and body products, which could double as a gym bag, too.

There are dozens of deals on the festive gifts, but what's available online may not be available in store - and visa versa - so you may want to check both and see which products you want to stock up on to get a head start on Christmas 2023.
