Getting a tattoo is a big commitment, and it involves putting a lot of trust in the artist who will be tasked with inking your skin with the exact design you wanted.
With this in mind, one woman has urged others not to "rush" their tattoos after she was left with ink that she "truly hates" because she thinks it "looks like a cabbage".
Female rapper Kiya Minx shared a viral video in which she explained the tattoo on her neck is supposed to be a rose, and while she initially wanted a minimalist design with no shading, her tattoo artist convinced her to have it shaded - leaving the petals looking more like the leafy green vegetable.
In the video, shared to her @kiyaminx account on TikTok, the woman explained: "You know how people say to be mindful of the tattoos you get because you might regret it when you're older? I f***ing hate this stupid ugly tattoo, oh my gosh I hate it so much.
"And you know what the crazy thing is? It's not even that I don't like it because of the placement, I don't like it because it's not what I wanted. First of all, it looks like a cabbage. Let's start there, it looks like a cabbage.
"Second of all, when I was getting the tattoo I told the guy - this was my first tattoo, I got it when I was 19 - I told him, do not put shading. And this man talked me into shading it. Why am I allowing someone to talk me into getting something that's permanently done on my body?"
But things could be worse for Kiya - who also posts on Twitter and Instagram - as she initially wanted the tattoo higher up her neck, and said she's now glad she chose not to because it would make the ink harder to cover up with clothing.
She added: "I wanted it right here [on her throat], I'm actually kind of happy I didn't get it there. But I feel like if this wasn't shaded, I would probably like it. But now that I'm getting older, I hate it. I truly hate it and I always want to cover it up because I'm so embarrassed by it.
"Do not rush your tattoos."
Commenters on the post were quick to reassure Kiya that her tattoo is "still very pretty", though many agreed they couldn't un-see the cabbage once it was pointed out to them.
One person said: "Ma'am, why would you mention the cabbage? I was seeing a rose and now I cannot not see a cabbage. It is still very pretty to an outsider's eye."
While another added: "Not the cabbage!"
And a third sympathised with the woman, as they explained: "I have the same rose on my hip and it genuinely shrunk so it looks like a cabbage."
In a follow-up comment, Kiya explained she plans on undergoing laser tattoo removal in the future.
