'I ruined my friend's hen party after she called me pathetic - I don't regret it'

The pressures of upcoming nuptials can prove too much to bear for some wedding guests, as tensions spill over into explosive arguments or passive aggressive digs that leave relationships on the rocks. We've all heard of the phrase 'bridezilla', a term coined for high maintenance brides that make unreasonable demands of their guests or throw emotional curveballs during planning.

One woman decided to take matters into her own hands when she found out her friend, who was about to get married, had called her names behind her back. Nobody could have expected the woman's petty move, as the trajectory of the whole wedding changed after one dramatic decision left plans in tatters.

Taking to Reddit to admit how she sought revenge on her ex-friend, the anonymous woman explained how she rekindled with an old friend, who she names Cher for the sake of the post, thinking she would stay loyal.

She said: "Cher is actively planning out her wedding. The Bachelorette party comes up and she wants to go to Atlantic City for the weekend. I thought that was a great idea and I had never been before.

"I offered to book the room in a nice hotel... So the next day I booked it and told her it was all set up."

Things were looking promising for the big day, but the anonymous poster soon realised there was cracks in her friendship after trying to seek advice about her struggling relationship.

She revealed: "Now during this time, my (ex)husband and I were having some issues. I would talk to her about it because I thought I could trust her.

"Barely a week after I made the reservations, I received a text from her that wasn't meant for me. I don't remember the exact words but she basically called me pathetic and annoying and used my name in that text."

After seeing the damming test message, the woman was left in shock that her friend had betrayed her trust: "She was referring to my marital problems. I sat for a minute and responded that I think she meant to text that to someone else. She made some lame excuse about autocorrect or something. I knew it was bull***t".

The Reddit poster, who had taken a lead on organising the woman's hen party, then sought revenge in a surprising way. She continued: "Fast forward about a month. The Bachelorette party is almost here! Everyone is so excited to spend the weekend in a nice hotel on my dime.

"I was excited too but for a different reason. You see, after I got that text, I cancelled the reservations and didn't mention it. I waited until it was too late for them to get another room."

In a bombshell move that ruined the whole weekend, the woman continued her 'petty' response to being called names by her so-called pal.

"When I did drop the bomb, she was not impressed. I said something petty along the lines of an annoying pathetic person is not paying for your stupid weekend."

After telling her ex-friend to f**k off in a brutal final message, the woman found out that they bachelorette guests had a terrible time after she secretly cancelled the venue booking.

"They still went but had to sneak into her fiance's [sic] hotel room and fit 10 people in a double queen," she said, adding that "they had a s*** time".

Far from feeling guilty about the ordeal, the anonymous poster doesn't regret her decision, and used the money she would have spent during the hen party weekend on a new tattoo. "Money well spent."

Hundreds of people have flocked to the comment section on the Reddit post to throw in their two cents on the dramatic admission.

When one commenter asked why the anonymous woman was planning to pay for the whole trip, pointing out that usually other people attending would split the cost, she replied: "In a normal situation they would. At the time, I could afford it and thought it was a nice gift. Also, I was unbelievably naive."

One shocked Reddit user commented: "Wow, see that's just hurtful; what "Cher" did. Take advantage of your generosity and kindness while insulting you to other friends behind your back. This is why I have trust issues..."

Another commended the woman's efforts to get revenge by saying: "You're my kind of petty. I love it".

The 'petty' friend even shared a photo of her 'revenge tattoo' on the Reddit post, for everyone to enjoy.

One person said: "I love your revenge tattoo, and if I were you, I would always describe it as the best way to get stabbed in the back by a friend!"
